free money to help pay bills

in response to judee...   Judy! Contact your disability office (maybe even in person) and ask them about some help regarding this situation. Maybe they connect you with an organization which donates used cars for people in need. Also your disability office may have some funds and programs you even do not know about! For example, they can pay for some schools, courses to help you to get a new job! I know it for sure. The same is with a car... Also you can attend local churches /religious centers to place you ad about your need in car repair, or just talk about it with people there. Also you can solve this by a barter exchange: you could place an ad (Craigslist or Facebook, or somewhere else) that you will do something you are specialist in for someone who is a car mechanic (if you are an accountant , then you can help with a tax prep, if you are a hair dresser or nutritionist, then you could help with your professional knowledge. You could be a babysitter for someone; kids for a while after work , or you could help an elder person to buy and prepare food, so , you will get money or /and free service for your car. Another idea: establish a payment plan with a auto-body services, you will get bills, and maybe you disability office would be able to pay them.

Desperately Need Money

Hello!

Unfortunately, I cannot help you financially . However maybe my advices will be helpful for you…

1) Have you ever heard about Charity Care cards? Almost every USA hospital has this special program for people with low income. So, if you need to pay medical bills, please call your hospital or VISIT IT in person. Ask general hospital secretary : “ I am interested in CHARITY CARE SERVICES for people with restricted income. In my case, even worse: I am disabled person. Could you please connect me with a charity care department?”
If one hospital does not have this service, then you should find any other hospitals in your area which do have it. Sometimes it has a name: Charity Care Insurance, sometimes – Clinic Card service. Both are the same. Ask hospital representatives from this department (charity care) about your next steps:
What documents should you prepare and when should come for an appointment to apply for this service.
Believe me, if you are really in need, you will get this card without any problems , and it will cover all your medical bills for that hospital’s services (out- patients and in-patients services, surgeries, diagnostic and so on). It will cover you future medical needs within that hospitals and whatever you already got from that hospital.
2) About SSI disability… Yes, you will wait until they approve your case. However if they approve your case (even in one year or more), they will pay you backwards – from the day you have applied. In other words, in you would apply today, and you will get an approval in August /01 /20012 , then you will get your monthly benefit in August multiplied 12 (for the whole past year, since the very first day of your applying). So, there is a good reason to hurry up and to apply. If you are applying for SSI, you will get a package: SSI money month by month, Medicaid, food stamps, but if you are eligible for SSD, then you will get money, Medicare and probably food stamps as well.
3) While you are waiting for a disability benefit, you could try to apply for WELFARE and a Charity care cards. Also you can ask you Christian Church about the following: tell people working there, that you are really in need of getting a new free car. Believe me, some people donate their old cars to others using churches and Salvation Army Stores. Also you can publish free online advertisement asking for free donation (cars and so on). Those people who making donations get a special document from whether church or another organization which is between you and that person. This document will allow them to reduce their taxes at the end of the year.
4) Let someone to rent a room in your home ! This way you will get immediate money (a security deposit and a monthly rent). I understand that you cut your privacy and comfort, but it’s temporarily emergency action. Always do it officially, months by month, using a lease. Otherwise you will face problem at the time when you decided to ask your tenants out.

I wish you to get more useful advises and financial help. But I tried by best to help you.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

in response to freind...   As far as I know, a bankruptcy will not solve anybody's situations with student loans. Especially , with private loans. A bankruptcy would help with credit cards debts, but not with student loans. I asked few attorneys about it. Try to find student loan forgiveness programs online. There are a lot of them!

in response to Tinnytin...   If you are disabled person, you have a right to get rid from all student loans if they are not private. Everything about private loans are more complicated. But still you should try to get rid of them by getting some information (use Disability Law attorneys, use Social Security office paying you this disability benefit to get some information about your situation). Do not talk over the phone. Write letters and sent them (certified with a return receipt). Ask your questions in written form, always ask about a name and a job title of the person answering you. And prior to sending letters, always call this office to get a name of the manager. Otherwise, if you would use " To who it may concern" instead of the name, it will go to the garbage. I know for sure, that disabled people have rights to get rid of Federal student loans . How? Just request an application ! Find your State's department of education online and call them with this question. Call your bank and request an application to cancel your loan due to your disability. Do not talk to clerks! Always ask for managers. Good luck to you! Do not be stressed: millions people like you have the same problems. It's fixable. Care about your health condition! it's the most important!

You ad is from a long time ago, however, if you still pay this student loan, please get the following information:

Please contact the U.S. Department of Education at 1-800-433-3243 for more information or to find out if you are eligible for Student Loan Forgiveness.
